Alvaro Cubillas, COO at HouseSpecial
Al loves technology and problem solving. His quest to innovate and his expertise in the animation process guided him to Portland (twice! with family in tow) and into the epicenter of an animation paradise. Prior to partnering with Lourri and Kirk to form HouseSpecial, Al was Managing Director of Strategic Operations for LAIKA/house and served as Vice President and Head of Technology for LAIKA’s Feature Film division following its evolution out of Vinton Studios.
In Texas, Al was the Vice President and Head of Technology at ReelFX Animation Studios developing their pipeline for the features Book of Life, Freebirds, Sony’s Open Season 3, as well as Blue Sky’s Ice Age Christmas, and WB’s Looney Toon shorts.
Matt Reslier, Lighting/Comp Lead at HouseSpecial
Originally from Florida, Matt started his career on a painting scholarship to the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, but switched majors to Computer Graphics after listening to some wise advise from a girlfriend. Since then, his animation career has spanned the globe with ride animations for The Revenge of the Mummy at Universal Studios Singapore to a gig in The Virgin Islands teaching Maya to PBS employees. Before landing at HouseSpecial, Matt honed his skills at LAIKA, Curious Pictures, The Mill, Psyop, ESPN, Universal and a return to Pratt as an instructor.
